Privacy Policy

Effective May 26, 2026 · Last updated July 27, 2026

Smart Cleaner, a product by Patagonia Capital LLC (“Smart Cleaner”) respects and values its Users’ privacy. This Privacy Policy describes the information Smart Cleaner collects from Users when they visit smartcleanerapp.com (the “Website”), how Smart Cleaner uses that information, and under what circumstances Smart Cleaner may or does disclose that information. This Privacy Policy should be read in conjunction with the Smart Cleaner Terms of Service also available on the Website at smartcleanerapp.com/terms.

Smart Cleaner Application — Email Cleaner Feature and Gmail Data

The Smart Cleaner iOS application (the “Application”) includes an optional Email Cleaner feature that uses the Google Gmail API to help User manage inbox subscriptions. When User chooses to connect a Google account, the Application accesses only the following Gmail data:

  • Message sender addresses (the From header);
  • Unsubscribe links (the List-Unsubscribe header); and
  • Message IDs, used solely to perform an optional, user-initiated move of messages to Trash.

The Application does not access email body content, email subjects, attachments, contact lists, or draft emails.

No server-side processing. The Email Cleaner feature is client-only. Smart Cleaner does not operate any backend server that receives, processes, or stores Gmail data. Email metadata is fetched directly from Google's Gmail API to User's device and is never routed through, transmitted to, or stored on any Smart Cleaner server or any third party. The sender list is held in the device's memory during a scan and cached only in the Application's local, device-only storage so that returning to the feature is fast; it is cleared when User refreshes or signs out. Google OAuth tokens are stored exclusively in the iOS Keychain on User's device.

Analytics isolation. Microsoft Clarity (see Section 2(d) below) is fully disabled throughout the entire Email Cleaner feature: no screens, events, taps, or session replays are captured while Gmail data could be displayed, and Clarity has no access to Gmail data or Google account credentials anywhere in the Application. Adapty, the Application's subscription-billing provider, receives only purchase and subscription state and has no access to Gmail data or OAuth tokens.

No sale, transfer, or secondary use. Notwithstanding anything else in this Privacy Policy, Google user data obtained through the Gmail API is used only to provide the user-facing Email Cleaner feature described above. It is never sold; never transferred to third parties; never used for advertising purposes; never used to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes; never used to train generalized artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models; and is not read by any human at Smart Cleaner (which is not technically possible, as the data never leaves User's device).

Revoking access and deleting data. User can disconnect Google at any time by signing out within the Email Cleaner settings, which erases the local sender list and deletes all Google tokens from the device. User can also revoke the Application's access at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions. Uninstalling the Application removes all local app data.

Data protection and security measures. Smart Cleaner protects Google user data and other sensitive information using the following technical safeguards:

  • Encryption in transit. All network connections use HTTPS with TLS 1.2 or higher. The Application enforces Apple's App Transport Security with arbitrary cleartext loads disabled and no exemptions, so unencrypted HTTP connections are blocked by the operating system. Gmail data is requested directly from Google's API over an encrypted connection.
  • Encryption at rest. Google OAuth access and refresh tokens are stored exclusively in the iOS Keychain, which is hardware-backed and encrypted by the device's Secure Enclave. Tokens are marked accessible only after first unlock and only on this device, so they are never included in iCloud or iTunes backups and never synchronize to another device. No credential or token is stored in application preferences, in the application bundle, or in source code.
  • Access control. Because Smart Cleaner operates no backend server, no employee or contractor can access User's Gmail data — there is no system on which such access could occur. On the device, Gmail data is confined to the Application's iOS sandbox and is unreadable by other applications, and Keychain material is additionally protected by the device passcode or biometric lock.
  • Secure authentication. Sign-in uses the OAuth 2.0 Authorization Code flow with PKCE (SHA-256 challenge) together with a cryptographically random, validated stateparameter that protects against cross-site request forgery. Credentials are entered only in Google's own authentication screen, presented in an isolated system browser session; the Application never sees, receives, or stores User's Google password.
  • Data minimization. The Application requests the narrowest Gmail scope that supports its features and reads only two message headers. Message bodies, subjects, and attachments are never requested from the Gmail API.
  • Logging protections. Diagnostic logging never records Google credentials, OAuth tokens, email addresses, message content, or API response bodies. Diagnostic output is compiled out of production builds entirely.
  • Third-party isolation. No third-party SDK can reach Gmail data or OAuth tokens. Analytics are suspended across the whole Email Cleaner feature and the billing provider has no access to Google user data.
  • Deletion. Signing out erases the local sender list and deletes every stored Google token from the device. User can also revoke the Application's access at any time from User's Google Account. Uninstalling the Application removes all local data.

Limited Use disclosure. Smart Cleaner's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

  1. Changes to Privacy Policies.
Smart Cleaner’s Privacy Policy is subject to change from time to time, so Smart Cleaner suggests that User reviews the current Privacy Policy at the start of each visit to the Website. Unless Smart Cleaner clearly expresses otherwise, Smart Cleaner will use information in accordance with the Privacy Policy under which User Information, as defined below, was collected, and User accepts and agrees to Smart Cleaner’s practices as described herein. USER IS HEREBY ADVISED THAT USER’S CONTINUED USE OF THE WEBSITE CONSTITUTES USER’S ACCEPTANCE OF ANY AMENDMENTS TO AND THE MOST RECENT VERSION OF THIS PRIVACY POLICY AND THE WEBSITE’S TERMS OF SERVICE.
  2. Information Smart Cleaner Collects.
When User uses the Website, Smart Cleaner may receive and collect certain information. The information that Smart Cleaner may receive and collect depends on what User does when it visits the Website.
    1. Automatically Collected Information.
Some information is automatically received and sometimes collected from User when User visits the Website. This information may include some or all of the following items: (i) the name of the domain and host from which User accesses the Internet, including the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the computer User is using and the IP address of User’s Internet Service Provider; (ii) the type and version of Internet browser software User uses and its operating system; (iii) the date and time User accesses the Website, the length of User’s stay and the specific pages, images, video or forms that User accesses while visiting the site; (iv) the Internet address of the website from which User linked directly to the Website, and if applicable, the search engine that referred User and any search strings or phrases that User entered into the search engine to find the Website; and (v) demographic information concerning the country of origin of User’s computer and the language(s) used by it. Smart Cleaner uses this information to monitor the usage of the Website, assess its performance, ensure technological compatibility with Users’ computers, and understand the relative importance of the information provided on the Website. Smart Cleaner may also use this data to conduct statistical analyses on Users’ usage patterns and other aggregated data.
    2. Information Collected via Cookies.
“Cookies” are small files or records that are placed on User’s computer to distinguish User from other visitors to the Website. The use of cookies is a standard practice among websites to collect or track information about User’s activities while using the Website. Generally, a Cookie may enable a website owner to track how a visitor navigates through the website and the areas in which visitors show interest. This is analogous to a traffic report: it tracks trends and behaviors but does not identify individuals. Information gathered in this fashion may include date and time of visits, pages viewed, time spent at the Website, and the website visited just before and just after a visit to the Website. Cookies can be set to expire: (i) on a specified date; (ii) after a specific period of time; (iii) when a transaction has been completed; or (iv) when a User turns off his/her Internet browser. A Cookie that is erased from memory when a visitor’s Internet browser closes is called a “session” cookie whereas Cookies which expire based on a time set by the Web server are called “persistent” cookies. The Website and Application may use both “session cookies” and “permanent cookies,” as well as session-replay and analytics technology (e.g., Microsoft Clarity) which records and analyzes user behavior when on the Website or within the Application (see Section 2(d) below for more detail). Internet browsers are typically set to accept Cookies by default. User can choose to have its browser warn User every time a Cookie is being sent to User or User can turn off Cookie placements. If User refuses Cookies, there may be parts of the Website which may not function properly.
    3. Information User May Actively Submit Through the Website.
For some of the browsing on the Website, Smart Cleaner neither requires nor collects “User Information,” which is information communicated by User to Smart Cleaner generally for use by Smart Cleaner in contacting User, e.g., User’s name and email address. User can browse the Website and take as much time as User wants to review the Website without having to submit such User Information. In the following instances, however and without limitation, User will be required to submit User Information: (i) when User wants to contact Smart Cleaner via email or Website contact forms; (ii) when User registers an account on the Website; or (iii) as necessary to process transactions entered into via the Website. E-mail or other forms of electronic communication, including contact form submission, are inherently not a secure and/or confidential means of communication. Information that is provided to Smart Cleaner as a “Submission,” as that term is used in the Website Terms of Services, is not “User Information” as that term is used in this Privacy Policy, and Smart Cleaner may handle Submission information in its sole discretion. Smart Cleaner reserves the right to use relevant data, such as feedback submitted by the user, to improve its product, marketing, and overall services for its users.
    4. Session Recording and Analytics.
Smart Cleaner uses Microsoft Clarity, a session-replay and analytics service provided by Microsoft Corporation, on both the Website and the Smart Cleaner mobile application (the "Application"). Clarity captures how Users interact with the Website and Application by recording session replays (visual reproductions of user interactions such as taps, scrolls, and navigation patterns) and generating heatmaps and behavioral analytics. The information collected by Clarity may include: (i) pages or screens visited and the sequence of navigation; (ii) clicks, taps, scrolling behavior, and mouse movements; (iii) device type, operating system, browser type, and screen resolution; (iv) approximate geographic location (derived from IP address); (v) session duration and frequency of visits; and (vi) performance data such as page load times. Clarity automatically masks sensitive content—including text inputs, form fields, and personally identifiable information—so that no passwords, payment details, or other personal data are captured in session recordings. Smart Cleaner uses Clarity data solely to understand how Users engage with the Website and Application, identify usability issues, and improve the overall user experience. Clarity data is processed by Microsoft in accordance with Microsoft's privacy practices. For more information on how Microsoft handles data collected through Clarity, please visit Microsoft's Privacy Statement at https://privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement. Users may opt out of Clarity data collection by contacting Smart Cleaner at support@stretchingapp.com. Within the Application, Clarity is fully disabled throughout the entire Email Cleaner feature: no screens, events, or session replays are captured while Gmail data could be displayed, and Clarity never has access to Gmail data or Google account credentials. See the “Email Cleaner Feature and Gmail Data” section above.
  3. Personal Information About Children.
The Website is targeted primarily for use by adults. Smart Cleaner does not target or create special areas for use by children. Accordingly, Smart Cleaner does not knowingly collect age identifying information, nor does Smart Cleaner knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13 years. HOWEVER, Smart Cleaner HEREBY ADVISES ALL VISITORS TO THE WEBSITE UNDER THE AGE OF 13 NOT TO DISCLOSE OR PROVIDE ANY PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION ON THE WEBSITE. In the event that Smart Cleaner discovers that a child under the age of 13 has provided personally identifiable information to Smart Cleaner, in accordance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (please see the Federal Trade Commission’s website at http://www.onguardonline.gov/articles/0031-protecting-your-childs-privacy-online for more information about this Act), Smart Cleaner will delete the child’s personally identifiable information from Smart Cleaner’s files to the extent possible.
  4. E-Mail Communication.
When User sends an email to Smart Cleaner or provides User’s email address to Smart Cleaner, User is communicating with Smart Cleaner electronically and consents to receive communication from Smart Cleaner electronically. Smart Cleaner may retain the content of such email(s), User’s email address, and Smart Cleaner response(s) in order to further service User’s needs. Smart Cleaner may use the data that User provides to send User email or correspondence via other means.
  5. How Smart Cleaner Uses and Shares User Information.
Smart Cleaner may use User Information that User actively submits to better assist User when User visits or contacts Smart Cleaner again and to send User special offers which may be of interest to User. Smart Cleaner may do this by general marketing communications for the Website or related services, including by e-mail, (collectively, “Marketing Communications”). Unless User “opts-out” through opportunities available to User through Smart Cleaner’s Marketing Communications, Smart Cleaner may send User Marketing Communications. User may also “opt-out” of future Marketing Communications by following the instructions provided in this Privacy Policy under the “Access to and Managing User Information” section of this Privacy Policy. Except where Smart Cleaner otherwise obtains User’s express permission, Smart Cleaner may share User Information with third-parties only under the limited circumstances stated below:
    1. Information is subject to disclosure in response to judicial or other governmental subpoenas, warrants, and court orders served on Smart Cleaner in accordance with their terms, as otherwise required by applicable law, or in response to requests by law enforcement.
    2. Information is subject to disclosure to protect Smart Cleaner’s rights or property, protect its legitimate business interests, to enforce the provisions of Smart Cleaner’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, and/or to prevent harm to User or others.
    3. Information may be disclosed to: (i) carefully selected third-party service providers so that they may provide services to User; (ii) provide customer service; (iii) send or email Marketing Communications; (iv) maintain Smart Cleaner’s promotions, database, and other programs; (v) monitor the activity of the Website and Application, including through session-replay and analytics providers such as Microsoft Clarity; (vi) conduct surveys; and (vii) process transactions.
    4. Information may be disclosed and transferred if Smart Cleaner or its business is sold or offered for sale to another company or person(s), if a petition for relief under the United States Bankruptcy Laws is filed by or against us, or if Smart Cleaner becomes subject to an order of appointment of a trustee or receiver.
  6. Linking to Third-Party Websites.
When User clicks on links on the Website that take User to third-party websites, User may be subject to the third-party website’s privacy policies. While Smart Cleaner supports the protection of privacy on the Internet, Smart Cleaner cannot be responsible for the actions of any third-party websites. Smart Cleaner encourages User to read the posted privacy policies of any and every website User visits, whether User is linking from the Website or browsing on its own.
  7. Access to and Managing User Information.
Smart Cleaner believes it is important for User to be able to: (i) find out what Information User has provided to Smart Cleaner through the Website; (ii) update User Information; and (iii) “opt out” of receiving future Smart Cleaner Communications. To inquire about User Information, update User Information, or “opt” out of receiving future Smart Cleaner Communications, User may do one of the following:
    1. Select the “unsubscribe” or “opt-out” option(s) contained with Smart Cleaner’s emails; or
    2. Send an e-mail with User’s request and current contact information to support@stretchingapp.com. If User sends an e-mail request, User should include its full name and email address, and indicate the specific nature of User’s request. If User wants to “opt in” or “opt out” of receiving Smart Cleaner communications, specifically what type of Smart Cleaner communication (e.g., e-mail) User wishes to receive or stop receiving. This will ensure Smart Cleaner identifies User correctly in Smart Cleaner’s systems and accurately processes User’s request. Smart Cleaner will take appropriate steps to implement User’s request, but due to production, mailing and system timelines, it may take up to ten (10) business days for e-mails. Until that change takes effect, User may still receive or not receive Smart Cleaner Communications. “Opting-out” of Smart Cleaner Communications may prevent Smart Cleaner from providing certain services which may be necessary for User’s use of the Website or services provided thereon.
  8. How Smart Cleaner Protects User Information.
Smart Cleaner applies technical and organizational safeguards to protect sensitive information, including Google user data obtained through the Gmail API. All data in transit is protected with TLS 1.2 or higher; cleartext connections are disabled at the operating system level. Authentication tokens are encrypted at rest in the hardware-backed iOS Keychain, scoped to a single device and excluded from backups. Sign-in uses the OAuth 2.0 Authorization Code flow with PKCE and CSRF protection, and Smart Cleaner never receives User's Google password. Because Smart Cleaner operates no backend server, Gmail data never leaves User's device and is not accessible to any Smart Cleaner personnel. Credentials, tokens, and message content are never written to logs. A full description of these measures appears in the Email Cleaner Feature and Gmail Data section above.
  9. What User Can Do to Further Protect its Information.
User has several options when deciding how it can best protect User Information. One option is simply not to volunteer it. As stated above, this approach would allow User to still visit the Website, although it will prevent User, for example, from utilizing services or materials provided via the Website or providing Smart Cleaner with User’s comments or questions relating to the Website. The Federal Trade Commission’s website,www.ftc.gov, also offers useful information about how to protect personally identifiable information provided to a website.
  10. What to Do About Suspected Violations of This Privacy Policy.
If at any time User believes that Smart Cleaner has not adhered to the policies and principles set forth in this Privacy Policy, please notify Smart Cleaner by emailing support@stretchingapp.com. Smart Cleaner will make all commercially reasonable efforts to promptly respond to such concerns.
  11. Do-Not-Track.
To the extent do-not-track implementations from User’s browser(s) prevent or impede the delivery of services provided through smartcleanerapp.com, those do-not-track implementations are not honored.
  12. Questions or Comments.
If User has any questions or comments concerning Smart Cleaner’s Privacy Policy, please contact Smart Cleaner by emailing support@stretchingapp.com.
