Your next steps
Find the largest app
Check Settings → General → iPhone Storage. Video, music and podcast apps may hold downloaded content outside Photos.
Open its download section
Review episodes, playlists or podcasts you no longer need offline. Confirm that you still have access before removing something you may want again.
Choose download removal
Where offered, remove the download rather than deleting your account, playlist or purchased item. Labels differ by service.
Recheck storage
Allow the system to recalculate. If a large app remains, consult that app’s own storage settings or support guidance.
Choose the right action
| Your priority | A useful approach | Before you act |
|---|---|---|
| Keep the original | Retain the full-quality or meaningful version; review replaceable content elsewhere first. | A smaller copy may not preserve edits, movement or all detail. |
| Remove an unwanted item | Inspect it, verify any necessary independent copy and approve only the intended selection. | Deletion in a synced library can affect other devices. Permanent removal ends recovery. |

Questions you might still have
Will deleting photos fix a streaming app’s cache?
No. Photos and the streaming app’s stored content are different categories.
Is offloading the same as clearing downloads?
No. Offloading keeps app documents and data. Review download controls inside the app first.
