Compare representative files
Open the images and inspect dimensions, edits and playback where relevant. A thumbnail may hide meaningful differences.
Use exact matching appropriately
The browser exact-duplicate finder compares only selected files by bytes. A re-encoded copy will not count as identical even if it looks the same.
Remove only verified extras
Review location and purpose: you may intentionally keep a separate backup copy. Do not confuse an archive with accidental duplication.

Why are matching pictures not marked exact duplicates?
Their bytes may differ because of compression, metadata or edits. Exact matching is deliberately narrower than visual similarity.
Should I delete my backup copy?
A separate backup can be intentional. Decide which location is the library and which is the archive before cleanup.
