Your next steps
Name the actual problem
Decide whether you want fewer future messages, a tidier inbox or less Google storage usage. These are not interchangeable goals.
Keep searchable mail
Archive mail you still need but do not want in the inbox. It remains in the account and still uses storage.
Reduce future subscriptions
For legitimate recurring lists, use supported unsubscribe controls. Requests can take time and are not guaranteed to stop every message.
Delete only reviewed content
Deleting moves mail to Trash. Review it before permanent removal; do not empty Trash merely to make the inbox look clean.
Choose the right action
| Your priority | A useful approach | Before you act |
|---|---|---|
| Less future mail | Request unsubscribe from legitimate lists you no longer need. | A request is best-effort and does not remove existing messages by itself. |
| Less account storage | Review large unwanted messages and account storage using Gmail and Google’s tools. | Archive does not free capacity; review Trash before permanent deletion. |
Where Smart Cleaner helps
Smart Cleaner helps review Gmail senders, request supported unsubscribes and optionally trash sender messages.
What it does not do
It does not decide what you should retain, and unsubscribe alone does not reclaim space from old mail.
Your review checklist
Tick these as you review. This list does not change your files or email, and clears when you leave or reload.

Questions you might still have
Does archive free Google storage?
No. Archived mail remains in the account.
Can I recover deleted mail?
Gmail normally retains it in Trash for up to 30 days unless permanently deleted earlier. Do not rely on recovery after permanent removal.
