In the Smart Cleaner app
Make smaller photo copies
Compression can create a smaller copy of a photo. Compare the result at a useful zoom level before deciding whether it is suitable for sharing or keeping.
Match the copy to its purpose
For a small attachment, reducing pixel dimensions can matter more than a tiny quality adjustment. For a print or future edit, retain the original resolution and file. Text, gradients and fine textures make good places to inspect compression artifacts.
Try a local browser copy
Our web tool accepts a single JPEG, PNG or WebP within its stated limits. Choose output dimensions, format and quality, then compare the measured file sizes. Processing stays in this browser. It does not scan your library or upload your file.
Use the native app for its library workflow
Smart Cleaner also offers native photo compression. Check the current app controls and review the output before any deletion decision. The browser tool is a separate, limited workflow; it does not imply support for every format the native app accepts.
A downloaded copy is not reclaimed storage
Keeping both versions uses more space than keeping only the original. Saving space requires a separate, deliberate decision about originals after checking quality and backups. Lossy compression changes pixels; do not describe it as universally lossless.
Good to know
Can a compressed file be bigger?
Yes. Changing format or re-encoding an efficient original can increase size. Our web tool reports that outcome rather than claiming savings.
